Rosebud Lefebvre Caradec, S.E.C.

For those of you who did not know Rosebud has a middle name — that name is Lefebvre. That does not sound very Texan. How does someone living in Houston, Texas, have such a middle name? Well, Rosebud’s father was born in White Plains, NY, to French-Canadian parents, and was raised in a convent in Montreal, Canada, for seven years after his mother died. Then, after only an eighth grade education, he started a very successful plumbing business in the basement of his house during the depression. Rosebud was involved with the business starting at the age of ten. Rosebud’s brother still operates the business. Rosebud’s third-generation Italian mother was born on a farm in New Jersey. Rosebud was born in New Brunswick, NJ, and grew up just across the Raritan River in Highland Park, NJ. Rosebud spent her school years in New Jersey; including graduating (on the Dean’s List, no less) from Rutgers University (Douglass College) with a BS in Nutrition.
Marriage took Rosebud away from New Jersey and to many new cities. Some of her work experiences included teaching French in elementary school, substitute teaching in high school, being a newspaper proofreader, serving as a school system dietitian, and as a hospital dietitian. While living in Knoxville, TN, Rosebud gave birth to three sons in a three-and-a-half year period (with no multiple births). Rosebud is a five-time grandmother. She enjoys spending time with her very successful sons and their families.
After landing in Houston, TX, Rosebud entered the exciting field of real estate and became the first Exclusive Buyer’s Broker in Houston in 1987. That same year Rosebud formed and became President of Advent Waterfront Properties, Inc. She soon became a waterfront property specialist with expertise in development, marinas, and related businesses.
In 1987, Rosebud had a significant event in her life. She walked (she did not have to go far, the meeting was being held next to her office) into an exchange meeting in Houston and met Hank Haden, S.E.C., and Jim Crowley, S.E.C., and she was hooked on the creative marketplace. She quickly developed her skills in investments, 1031 exchanges, and creative real estate.
Rosebud is a founding Board member of the largest real estate marketing group in Houston, and had a number of years of involvement with the National Council of Exchangors, some of those years serving as a Board member. She is also past president of the Texas Equity Marketing Network and is a CCIM candidate.
Rosebud began attending The Society of Exchange Counselors marketing meetings in 1992 and received full membership in 1995. Rosebud was awarded the Yvonne Nasch Memorial Award in 1999 for completing the most transactions within the group.
Rosebud is very involved in a number of civic organizations including being a charter member of the Seabrook Rotary Club. Rosebud has been a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award twice, for exemplary service. The Paul Harris Fellow is the highest honor given by the International Rotary Organization. She helped coordinate the development of the Harris County Library in her hometown, is on The College of the Mainland Advisory Board, and is past chairman and now again member of her local Planning & Zoning Commission.
Some of Rosebud’s many activities include sailing, both racing and cruising (Rosebud enjoys her membership in a world class yacht club), speed walking, dancing, gourmet cooking, and gardening. At every opportunity, she entertains in her new house on Galveston Bay. Rosebud is an avid traveler. And you may not know that Rosebud speaks semi-fluent French.
In Rosebud’s own words, she hopes to “never forget her many blessings, to support family and friends, and to experience all that life has to offer.”
