Colleagues, friends, family members, employees, real estate brokers, and developers gathered together for the 2006 annual meeting of the CCIM Kansas Chapter, at Crestview Country Club on Friday, December 1, 2006; to honor long time S.E.C. member, Jack Hunt, with a lifetime achievement award. Also present were S.E.C. members, Colby Sandlian, Rod Stewart, Leo Goseland, Ed Killian, Paul M. Winger, Paul F. Winger, and Bill Stonaker. It was noted that this was the largest turnout for a CCIM Kansas Chapter meeting in the history of the organization.

Rod Stewart, S.E.C. introduced Jack and, on behalf of the Kansas Chapter CCIM and Wichita State University Center for Real Estate, presented Jack with a terra cotta bust of a cowboy, personally commissioned for Jack and created by local artist and renowned sculptress, Babs Mellor.

After Rod’s introduction and commentary on Jack’s life, Vicki Hunt spoke about a meeting she had scheduled with Jack one day prior to their marriage and how, after arriving at Tranquility Farm, she found Jack walking across the iced-over pond, thus “walking on water” and it completed the list of qualities she wanted in a husband. Jack was then roasted by local comedian, Bucky Walters, and a great time was had by all.

Jack is a Lifetime Member of the Society of Exchange Counselors. He was named Counselor of the Year in 1990 (the most prestigious S.E.C. Award), he won the Clifford Weaver Award for the most creative transaction in 1991; he served as President in 1997; served for many years on the Board of Governors in various leadership positions; and was instrumental in the formation of the S.E.C. Education Foundation. A special award in his honor was created in 2002, the Jack Hunt Excellence in Education Award. Jack has been a dedicated member of the Society for over 25 years.
