Catching the Marketing Session Bug

Almost 30 years ago I walked into a big national marketing session at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago. Over 100 brokers were marketing properties, brainstorming complicated solutions, and proposing to exchange equities to solve problems. It was exciting and new to me and at that moment I caught the “bug.”

Today marketing sessions are still a world that much of traditional real estate doesn’t see or understand. I just returned from the New York Commercial Real Estate Conference at the Turning Stone Resort where I participated in a day long marketing session. At this meeting and at every Society of Exchange Counselors meeting I continue to see people catching the “bug.”

To me this “bug” is easy to catch. It should be easy for any real estate professional to catch it too. You only have to answer yes to one or more of the following:

  • Do you want to expose your listings or real estate clients to some of the best minds creative real estate has to offer?
  • Do you want to talk directly with many brokers who personally invest and bring their clients with them?
  • Do you want to be in a cooperative setting of deal making where ideas flow and develop for the benefit of all?
  • Do you want to quickly learn about different kinds of property?
  • Do you want to develop long-term relationships with other professionals that you can do transactions with over and over again?
  • Do you want to expand your market and see what the world has to offer outside of your immediate area?

If you answered yes to one or more of above questions you are probably susceptible to the “bug.” But instead of fighting this “bug” you should mark your calendar for the next upcoming national marketing session, or go to www.secounselors.com and contact a Society member in your area to see how you might secure a meeting invitation.

You too can catch the marketing session “bug.” The symptoms are generally fun, excitement, more commissions, new wealth, and profits which need no cure!
