The mission of the S.E.C. Education Foundation, the Society of Exchange Counselors 501(c)(3) non-profit affiliate, is to promote education in the field of creative real estate. Many S.E.C. members have made generous contributions to this charitable Foundation and their “investments in the future” have now established a viable operating fund to be used to identify suitable courses and first-rate instructors and to promote those courses across the nation.
Successful brokers have tendered investments in the Foundation because they fully understand that specialized education is of utmost importance to the real estate industry in general, as well as to themselves as individual professionals. They realize that the Society’s unique form of marketing needs to embrace new members and guests to the S.E.C. marketing conferences. Further, in order to be effective in our marketing arena, those new to our market need to have a solid background in the fundamentals that make our conferences successful.
Our collaborative marketing system thrives on meeting face-to-face with other professionals who have like education and understanding of the equity market. Thus, it is critical that S.E.C. make these essential courses available across the country for all who would join us in our endeavors.
The primary objective of the Foundation is to encourage and assist real estate professionals to acquire quality instruction in:
- Effective client counseling,
- Transaction enabling formulas,
- How real estate decisions impact income tax,
- Broker-to-broker marketing skills and techniques, and
- Wealth building for both brokers and their clients.
An important role of S.E.C.’s Foundation in meeting this objective is to serve as a source of financial support for local marketing groups desiring to bring quality education to their members. Sponsoring an educational event can be an economic challenge. Many local groups do not have sufficient cash reserves to accept the financial risk of such an undertaking. That is where the Foundation comes in. The Foundation is willing to guarantee the presentation of a Foundation approved seminar against substantial financial loss to the local group by contracting with the group to cover losses up to an agreed upon level. In this way, I like to think of the Foundation as a “confidence builder.”
Our plan for 2005 is to build on our momentum of the past few years. During 2004, well over 1,000 students attended seminars financially backed by the Foundation. It is very gratifying that, because of the quality of the courses and the instructors and the apparent thirst for this information from students, nearly all of the courses were very successful in providing the promised education and being financially profitable to the local group sponsor. The very few that fell short of being profitable were covered by the Foundation’s agreement to cover losses.
The S.E.C. Education Foundation’s goal for 2005 is to double last year’s number of students benefiting from the courses that have been, for many students, career changing events. Why not let the S.E.C. Education Foundation help you sponsor one or more courses during the coming year?
Just remember, “We’ve got you covered!”
