We are all familiar with the havoc hurricanes have caused in Florida and the Gulf coast this year. This damage has created opportunities throughout those states in residential, retail, and industrial properties. Many folks will rebuild, however, high insurance deductibles and the high cost of more stringent recent building codes may make rebuilding impossible for many, so many of these properties will be placed on the market. A few may decide not to rebuild due to fear of future storms, their advanced age or inability to face the task. While some who were planning a retirement in Florida may change or delay their plans, the fact remains that Florida’s weather will continue to be a magnet for those in the northern climes.

This may be an excellent time to get involved with the restoration or JV with those who are, or acquire distressed properties for future development.
